“In rivers, the water that you touch is the last of what has passed and the first of that which comes; so with present time.”

Hello and welcome! My name is Annecy Baez, and I am a trauma-informed, focusing-oriented schema therapist, educator, and writer. I have been practicing psychotherapy for more than thirty years, providing individual, family, and group psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and their families in diverse inpatient, and outpatient settings, college mental health settings, and private practice.

My work is grounded in trauma-informed healing-oriented, body-centered, and anti-oppressive practices.  I integrate expressive arts, particularly therapeutic writing,  dreamwork,  bibliotherapy/poetry therapy, visual journaling

Therapy Session

I am a bilingual (English/Spanish) culturally sensitive trauma-informed psychotherapist who draws from the Bowen Family Systems therapeutic perspective.  With couples, I use the Prepare-Enrich online inventory (40-60 min) in English and Spanish. A Prepare-Enrich program is a useful tool for premarital, cohabitating, and married couples to identify areas of strength. I am trained in Emotion-Focused Couples Therapy but draw from Imago Relationship Therapy,  Gottman Method.

I provide psychoeducational classes on creating your genogram to increase knowledge about your family and patterns. To learn more please this article by Jenny Brown, "How our family of origin affects us AND how we affect each family member"

I integrate expressive arts in my psychotherapy practice as a creative method to cope with life challenges and support your growth. Expressive arts therapies used vary depending on your needs, but they include therapeutic journaling, and writing, visual art journaling as well  Bibliotherapy/Poetry therapy,  a therapeutic modality that involves the reading of poetry, or a specific narrative or story with the purpose of growth and healing.  I also provide clinical Bibliotherapy, the use of therapy books for therapeutic support, see events.

My approach is supportive, compassionate, and trauma-informed. I incorporate creative coping strategies in my therapeutic work. I integrate creative coping strategies, expressive arts, mindfulness, and somatic approaches. I draw from experiential and body-centered therapies that teach us that we are all wired for growth and healing. With mindfulness and acceptance, I provide a safe place, free of judgment where you can share openly and honestly. It is my hope that our work together will support you. I welcome you here and look forward to meeting you
